Arsenal continued its impressive run in the UEFA Champions League, securing a place in the semi-finals after a 2-1 win over Spanish giants Real Madrid in the second leg of their quarter-final clash at the Santiago Bernabeu this evening.
The match was a fiercely contested battle, with Arsenal breaking the deadlock in the 65th minute. Young star Bukayo Saka found the back of the net after latching onto a brilliant pass from teammate Merino.
Real Madrid responded almost immediately, leveling the score in the 67th minute through Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior, who capitalized on a costly defensive error from the Gunners.
But Arsenal had the final say. Deep into stoppage time, Gabriel Martinelli struck in the 90+3 minute, restoring the lead and sealing the win.
Despite late pressure from Madrid, Arsenal held firm defensively and closed out the game, advancing to the semi-finals with a dominant 5-1 aggregate score, thanks to their commanding 3-0 victory in the first leg.
Next up for Arsenal is a semi-final showdown with French side Paris Saint-Germain, who earned their place by eliminating Aston Villa.
