APC Poised to Gain More Governors Ahead of 2027, Says Yilwatda

Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asserted that 2027 is already a “done deal” for the ruling party.
Speaking at a post-inauguration National Working Committee meeting, he said his mission is to expand the party’s reach, welcoming more governors, senators, National Assembly members, local government chairmen and indeed, more Nigerians into the APC.
Yilwatda emphasised that the party currently controls 23 states and is “still counting,” pledging to bring more governors on board through tireless grassroots engagements and strategic outreach.
This drive also includes attracting governors defecting from opposition camps. Already in 2025, APC has gained two such figures; Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State.
Yilwatda’s commitment to tough but collaborative leadership, inspired by President Bola Tinubu’s blend of calm demeanour and decisive action, signals a more assertive posture from the APC as it heads into a critical election year.
With internal momentum and a focus on expanding its political footprint, the APC under Yilwatda is shaping up to assert its dominance in the upcoming electoral cycle.
