Ancelotti Says Vinícius and Rodrygo Are “Blocking” Endrick’s Progress at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has publicly stated that two of the club’s established forwards, Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo Goes, are a major factor in stalling the development of young Brazilian striker Endrick. He explained that despite seeing promise in Endrick, the competition for places in Real’s senior squad is intense. Ancelotti believes that with stars like Vinícius and Rodrygo already performing, Endrick has struggled to get consistent playing time, which is essential for a young player’s growth.

Endrick, just 19 years old, was last called up by the Brazil national team in March. He’s still fighting for regular minutes in LaLiga matches. Last season, he only started in three LaLiga games under Ancelotti. The manager commented that while Endrick has room to improve, it is commonplace in elite clubs that competition can hinder the speed at which young talents break through.

Ancelotti said, “I coached Endrick for a year and really liked him as a person and as a professional. And, obviously, he didn’t play as well as he could, because Real Madrid had Rodriguez, Vini; competition in a big team is important, and that can affect a player’s progression a little.” This suggests that Ancelotti views the situation as a normal challenge in high-level football rather than a failure on Endrick’s part.

Do you think Endrick should be given more opportunities, or is it better for him to stay behind great players and learn? Share your views in the comments below.
