Veteran comedian Ali Baba (Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome) has been officially evicted from his multi-million-naira property in Victoria Island, Lagos, following a court order enforced on August 15, 2025. The eviction was carried out after the Federal High Court issued a writ of possession against him and his company, XQZMOI TV, as confirmed by bailiffs.

The property, located at 324A Akin Ogunlewe Street, was initially sold to Ali Baba in 2021 for ₦220 million by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). AMCON claimed the sale was meant to recover debts allegedly owed by Harold Expansion Industries Nigeria Limited.

However, the court ruled in favour of Harold Expansion on July 31, 2025, finding that AMCON failed to provide crucial evidence—such as a statement of account—while neglecting to defend against a counterclaim. Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa ordered that the property be returned to its original owners and imposed ₦500 million in damages on AMCON. Ali Baba's purchase, made amid ongoing litigation and under a preservation order, ultimately rendered him vulnerable to the eviction.

What do you think? Should Ali Baba pursue compensation through the court’s decision, especially considering he acquired the property in good faith—or is this a cautionary tale about the importance of due diligence in property purchases? Let us know in the comments!
