Akwa Ibom Police Command, Fallen officers

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has released ₦46,995,139.32 in welfare payments to the families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The funds were granted under the Group Life and IGP Family Welfare Schemes as ordered by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.

The presentation, made by Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare at the State Command headquarters in Uyo, was intended to honour the sacrifices of the fallen and provide vital support for their next of kin. Azare emphasised that the sums are not replacements for the lives lost but are part of the Force’s ongoing commitment to assist bereaved families.

During the ceremony, several officers were also promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The Commissioner urged all ranks to see promotion as an increased duty, in particular to uphold integrity and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude, promising to use the funds responsibly. The dual event, welfare disbursement and promotions, is viewed as part of morale-boosting efforts by the Police leadership in Akwa Ibom.
