ACF Blasts Tinubu for Prioritising 2027 Campaign Over National Challenges
Omoyeni Olabode

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has sharply criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of focusing on preparations for the 2027 presidential election at the expense of urgent national issues. In a statement following their National Executive Council meeting in Kaduna, the group lambasted what they described as “poor socio-economic policies” that have left Northern Nigeria in dire straits .
ACF’s communiqué underscored deep concern over the continued hardship—marked by declining livelihoods, food insecurity, rising youth unemployment, and deteriorating education and healthcare. The group cautioned that unless current priorities shift to address these fundamental problems, Nigerians should be prepared to “vote against bad governance” in the upcoming 2027 elections .
However, ACF’s stance has drawn mixed responses. One faction within Northern politics has defended Tinubu, arguing that the talk around 2027 is premature and distracts from the pressing need for effective governance. APC chieftains, including Ambassador Nurain Abayomi Mumuni, have echoed this sentiment, urging politicians to allow the president room to deliver on critical reforms rather than engage in early campaign plotting .
In response to the criticism, Tinubu’s camp dismissed ACF’s claims as overblown, insisting that discussions of the 2027 election are speculative and that the president remains focused on tackling hunger, insecurity, climate change, and economic stability. Presidential aides emphasized that ACF's concerns reflect internal anxieties rather than national policy direction.
