A statement by omowealth on the allocation of funds for solar power by the president
Olamilekan Boluwatife

Nigeria currently spends approximately ₦6 billion annually to power the Aso Rock Villa. For the 2025 fiscal year, ₦1.99 billion has been allocated specifically for diesel to run generators at the State House.
However, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s proposed solar power initiative, Nigeria stands to save over ₦5 billion every year. This transition to clean energy will significantly reduce operational costs and eliminate the need for the annual ₦1.99 billion diesel expenditure.
It’s difficult to understand why some Nigerians oppose such a forward-thinking move. Embracing renewable energy not only promotes sustainability but also ensures long-term economic savings and energy independence for the nation's seat of power.
