At least 15 Jehovah’s Witness worshippers died in a tragic road accident on Monday evening at Awomama Bridge in Imo State. The tragic incident happened as the victims were returning from their annual convention, when a truck driving against traffic collided with their bus.
The local chairman of Oguta Local Government Area, Ifeanyi Nnani, described the incident as a profoundly sad loss for the community. In a condolence message issued through his aide Orum Desmond on Tuesday, he offered heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for divine comfort over the community.
According to preliminary details, the collision occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m., when a trailer travelling the wrong way struck the bus transporting the worshippers from Agwa community in Oguta. All aboard the bus died instantly, and their remains have since been taken to a morgue.
